I am Javier Ramirez, son of Pedro Ramirez Vasquez,

who was an architect, designer, politician,

diplomatic president of the Organizing Committee

of the Olympic Games in 1968.

Among with a social commitment with the country,

I studied architecture.

I am also a graphic designer.

Nowadays, I am responsible with the family of the legacy

of Pedro Ramirez Vasquez.

We designed this house with cultural roots,

everything around the patio.

[gentle music]

A Mexican modern space for the fifties.

Everything was.

The interior, you know, the boss is the wife.

The responsibility was my mother's.

My father was the chief.

My mother only gave the orders.

This house, I can feel them.

It's their space.

They build it, they live here.

The objects,

everything brings memories, histories,

and of course, responsibility to preserve it.

[gentle music]

The archives are so big,

mostly documents, collections, posters,

gifts, books of course, recognitions,

decorations, sketches of projects,

handmade memorabilia.

But it's a live memory.

[upbeat music]

My father was very proud

about the Organizing Committee in 1968.

The main idea of the emblem, 1968,

it was to show the modernness of Mexico,

to express Mexican roots in a contemporary way.

It was, of course, through the logo, through colors.

even in the clothes, it was necessary

to express these in uniforms and everything.

For the reception of the Olympic fire,

it was during the night, and it's so cold there,

so cold, and for the IUC members

and the wives and the special guests,

the organizing committee gave them this.

[speaking in foreign language]

Was done in many, many colors,

and all of them, they were protected to the cold with this.

[speaking in foreign language]

It's a Mexican color, it's Olympic.

[speaking in foreign language]

Where our roots are.

A lot of common sense to use our roots in everything.

Mexico express its personality.

[gentle music]

The importance for me to preserve not only the space,

the content, it's of course the love for him,

what he represent for me, of course,

but for the country, for the city,

for the Olympic movement, for education,

for architecture, for many things.

And it's a big responsibility

for society, for new generations.
